The brief was to design a contemporary, Southern Hemisphere inspired, beach house on this stunning site on the South Cornish Coast for our clients and their young family to enjoy.
Important to the design was making the most of the views from inside and outside of the building with large sections of glazing and a large projecting deck incorporating an outdoor pool, hot tub and separate home office space; that became known as the ‘Man Shed’.
Critically, the materials specified were to be sympathetic to the local context; to make a statement, but also to blend in, with a natural feel.
Our clients requested an Environmentally conscious approach to the detail design and whilst a sustainable performance for the house was essential, equally important was creating a pleasant environment in which to live. The house achieved an A rating on its SAP calculations and EPC and went on to win the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists national award for Excellence in Architectural Technology.
