Waterside Offices, Berry Pomeroy, Devon
Located in the picturesque village of Berry Pomeroy, Waterside was a historic structure that had been neglected for decades. The project was to revitalise the site to provide stunning new offices in a rural setting as the current ruinous building had trees growing internally and ivy clad walls in a delicate balance. Externally, the building kept its traditional look of natural slate, stone and chunky hardwood timber. The inside became a bright open plan office with much of the rebuilt stonewalls exposed. Waterside is an excellent example of a historic structure saved from being lost to the ravages of time and disuse.
The Byre, Berry Pomeroy, Devon
This conversion of a redundant barn was aimed to provide high quality office buildings following the success at its neighbouring location Waterside. The existing buildings was characterised by a strong line of stone piers and dramatically sloping eaves. The conversion combined exposed galvanised steel with boarded infill panels to give a robust, almost agricultural feel, befitting it surrounding rural landscape. The whole building is set off by a dramatic glass front to define this traditional building as a contemporary place of work.
